I now sell quarter-fold cards in my Media Medusa Shop on Etsy. Quarter-fold (also known as French fold) cards are very handy, because you can create a beautiful card that has a cover, a sentiment on the inside and a back cover. This way, you’re not stuck for something to say on the inside of a blank card.

The card is smaller than half-fold greeting cards (obviously), but it’s a great alternative when you want something to look more like a finished product.

You can buy notecard-sized envelopes [this is an affiliate link] on Amazon to fit your quarter-fold cards.

Instructions for Folding Quarter-Fold Cards

TIP: Print the card file (.PDF) on regular printer paper first. That way you can practice on the printer paper without wasting your card stock or quality paper.

Example of portrait orientation quarter-fold (French fold).

For portrait orientation (up and down):

  1. Print the card.
  2. Fold the paper/card stock across the 8.5″ width first. Your paper / card stock will be wide and short.
  3. Then fold the paper / card stock in half (left to right) so that the cover will end up in front and the Media Medusa Shop log will end up on the back. Your sentiment should be inside the card.

For landscape orientation (left and right):

  1. Print the card.
  2. Fold the paper/card stock across the 11″ length first. Your paper / card stock will be tall and narrow.
  3. Then fold the paper / card stock in half (top to bottom) so that the cover will end up in front and the Media Medusa Shop log will end up on the back. Your sentiment should be inside the card.
